I have always loved Christmas but I remember one from childhood that was particularly special. My mom and some other ladies had organized a neighborhood Christmas party to be held at our house. It would start with going caroling (and I loved and still love to sing) and then we'd end up back at my house to hang out and eat. Well, one memory stands out from the time between getting back and going to bed. I was standing near the food (you have no idea how common that is) so I could be near the doughnuts, and was drinking hot apple cider that also had cinnamon in it. It's the first time I remember loving that combination of tastes. And ever since then, it's one of my favorites. I drink apple cinnamon tea, put my apple cider candle right next to my cinnamon one and often burn them at the same time. And, of course, I love cinnamon rolls (Cinnabon, anyone?) & other cinnamon treats. Do I think my apple cinnamon love goes back to that memory? I actually do. So that's why I chose it for this post. What's your earliest comfort food memory? One that is unsullied in any way. If you can still eat that food without getting sick, then it could be a good ally in your winter blues arsenal. And it doesn't have to hurt. I rarely eat cinnamon rolls but can have cinnamon or apple cinnamon or gingerbread tea (which has cinnamon in it) every day. And sipping delicious tea - savoring it - is very hygge! What would that be for you? Try it this winter. Maybe go all out with it once (I'm looking at you, Cinnabon!) and then find a kinder version for the rest of your winter experience. See you next time! Love, Jeanine

So, I used cinnamon sticks in a completely different way just Friday- along with chopped onion and olives to adorn tuna steaks.

My most vivid food memory occurred when I was about ten years old. It occurred during the summer. I was wearing a blue and white striped bathing suit. I had put a quarter of an orange in my mouth and I was savoring the sweet juiciness of the orange. I thought, "I will remember this moment forever." And, so, I have. I still love all citrus fruits and, in fact, just finished a tangerine.

My goodness, everything you are writing today is moving to me! I love the idea of "I'll remember this moment forever," and that you still love them. I do remember some idyllic moments while drinking orange juice! And I still love it, but it does NOT love me back.

I love cinnamon! I have a Christmas drink I "brew" with tea, powdered tang, and cinnamon. It not only taste delicious, the aroma goes all through the house! One of my many memories is when I was young (very young) and my grandmother would be making her old fashioned donuts. I would help her roll the dough, cut out the donuts and she always sized the center holes and deep fry them after the donuts were made. She would cover them with cinnamon and sugar and her and I would eat them warm!

Oh my goodness, you have to get out of my head! :-) . My craving for Cinnabon which they don't have here led me to look up a recipe which l saved and l am planning on making it today (was supposed to be yesterday but no clue how to make icing, so l have to look that up too). Can't wait to see how it turns out.

We use cinnamon in Indian cooking quite a bit and with my daughter enjoying baking, we tend to use both powdered and whole cinnamon in our home very often - and we love it ...:) totally hygge
