21 Days of Hygge: Hot Chocolate Wishes

In our continuing 21 days of hygge extravaganza, today's hygge idea is hot chocolate. Make yourself a cup today if you'd like and savor it.

And right smack dab in the middle of that hot chocolate moment, when it feels like all is right with the world, and it's easier to imagine having more hygge moments in the future, make a wish or two.

Start with your wishes for the rest of your day today. Then make a wish or two for the week ahead. When I ask, "what would make you happy?" make a wish for the first thing that comes to mind.

What is the highest & best expectation you could have for today? Ask yourself the same question about the week ahead. Then take a moment to send your answers to the queen of wishes.

See you next time!

Love, Jeanine

Wow chocolate! My mouth is already watering! I guess i can make time for a steaming hot cup of chocolate especially on a Sunday. By the way, what does Hygge mean? and how is it pronounced?

Thinking of your post today, bet the hot chocolate with give you a moment of happiness! :)

Hygge is pronounced heu-geh, in my opinion, though there are a variety of offerings about how to say it. But when I hear it said by someone who is Danish, that is how it sounds to me.

It's a word that doesn't have an easy translation into English, but again, going back to your post, I say you can think of it as a kind of happiness. It happens in cozy moments alone or with people you love.

It's comfort, simple pleasures, bonding moments, togetherness, tea moments, hot chocolate moments, moments where you sit by the fire, wrapped up in exquisite comfort & read a good book or watch a good movie. All of those things & more.

The Swedish equivalent would be "Mysigt".

And you reminded me that I ran out of cocoa last week and forgot to grab some in the store yesterday. :-)

That's neat, Stella! I have heard that lots of other countries have words for it. Too bad we don't, although I love all the words we do use when we try to describe it. Glad I could remind you. ;)

Sounds great, Kemkem! I have tea every day but don't have hot chocolate as often. But I missed my tea this morning because I was on the run. Not very hygge. And it was quite cold when I went out, so hot chocolate sounds like a good reward for my cold troubles today. Hope you enjoy yours!

Hot Chocolate is soooo nice! Here in the Northeast it has been bitterly cold and having a nice rich cup of hot chocolate makes me smile!

Hi Paul! I completely agree with you. It's so soothing after being out in the cold.
