"Either you are in each other's confidence and have secret affairs to discuss, or you are conscious that your figures appear to the greatest advantage by walking. If the first, I should get in your way. If the second, I can admire you much better from here." ~Pride and Prejudice
"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune,
must be in want of a wife."

"This is the first sentence of Pride and Prejudice and stands as one of the most famous first lines in literature. Even as it briskly introduces the arrival of Mr. Bingley at Netherfield—the event that sets the novel in motion—this sentence also offers a miniature sketch of the entire plot, which concerns itself with the pursuit of 'single men in possession of a good fortune' by various female characters. The preoccupation with socially advantageous marriage in nineteenth-century English society manifests itself here, for in claiming that a single man 'must be in want of a wife,' the narrator reveals that the reverse is also true: a single woman, whose socially prescribed options are quite limited, is in (perhaps desperate) want of a husband." ~ Spark Notes

It's movie night!! Is it just me or do you love a Jane Austen movie, too?

What better way to start this movie night series than with Pride and Prejudice? It's one of my all-time favorites. Have you ever seen it?

If not, I highly recommend it. OTOH, my son would mention so many other possibilities. Harry Potter. Star Wars. All those superhero ones.

So the idea is to plan fun movie nights in advance that you could love watching by yourself, with friends or with family. And layer the hygge so that it envelops you.

Movie + hot chocolate + comfy clothes + fuzzy pillows on the cozy couch + soft lights or candles. Give yourself the lush experience and create a moment that will later become a treasured memory.

Even if "later," is tomorrow or the next time you watch a movie or light a candle.

Have a wonderful time!

Love, Jeanine

I have yet to see this movie even after all these years. My taste leans towards action and westerns but l can appreciate this every once in a while. Yeah..with hot chocolate :-)

Kemkem, I didn't use to like period movies, either. In fact, I remember going to one with my friends, many years ago, and I was bored! I just didn't get it.

But then I went to see 2 movies that sort of changed everything, though I am not sure why. I saw The Age of Innocence & Remains of the Day. And I loved them! Then, someone mentioned Jane Austen, and that was just it for me.

But if you love westerns, with hot chocolate, that sounds great. Just don't be taking a sip when the surprises happen. :)

I do enjoy Jane Austen movies. I like the language and the acting and costumes. Sit back and relax, or as they say now "Netfilx and Chill".

I am still catching up to Netflix and chill. But if I see a Jane Austen movie on cable, I stop to watch it.

I haven't watched this movie either, though I have taken Jane Austen in my English class in university. Will have to watch it one of these January days.

Oh, I hope you do, Lily! In general, I am sure the books are better, but for P&P, I actually like the movie version best.

If you ever do watch the movie, I'd choose the version that has Donald Sutherland and Keira Knightley. And absolutely, hot chocolate will make it even better. In fact, I think I have watched it at least once with hot chocolate!
