Christmas in Evergreen: A Hallmark Christmas Movie

12/10/2020

Welcome to Evergreen, a small town in Vermont. On a clear day in this Christmas town, they say you can almost see the North Pole. Here, in Evergreen, they celebrate Christmas all year long, and some people are sure that one of their residents, a friendly, bearded, older gentleman, has some North Pole connections, wink wink.

Christmas Magic for Wishes of the Heart

Needing a little Christmas magic after the year we have all had? Evergreen offers it. Just take a visit to the town diner, and give the snow globe a shake that is just inside the door.

Legend has it that if you shake it and make a heart wish, your wish will be granted.

I know that today, you can only see it, in the pictures, but why not give it a try? Go ahead, make a wish.

My wish for you is that you watch this movie!

I love it, and have seen it several times since its first airing. This movie is the first in a series of three, so far, with the third one being new this Christmas season.

But I bet there will be more to come in the future!

I love this movie for several reasons. The story has small town charm, Christmas magic, an interesting plot and a happy ending.

It has quickly become one of my favorite Hallmark Christmas movies, and that's hard to do, because I love them all.

Diversity Comes to Hallmark

Picture

When this movie came out, Crown Media, which owns the Hallmark franchise, was just beginning to take steps toward more diversity in their movies. With this movie, they did that in two ways.

Not only were there more black actors in supporting roles in this movie, but they also gave two of the black actors a romance.

They had a meet cute, and the story gave them a chance to demonstrate that they liked each other. By the end, it seemed clear that a romance was developing.

Well, I have to tell you that before this movie, and maybe one other one that same Christmas season, Hallmark movies did not do that in their holiday movies. So I was pretty excited that they were getting around to it, after nearly a decade of their Countdown to Christmas programming, and that is yet another reason why this movie means so much to me.

Have you seen it, yet? And if not, do you think you will watch it this season?

See you tomorrow!

Love, Jeanine
