The best kind of love starts with an unexpected hello. - Robert Tate Miller, The Christmas Layover
The Christmas Layover
Talk about internal struggle!
In The Christmas Layover, Ally Henderson boarded a plane headed from L.A., where she owns a yoga studio, to New York, where she was all set to get married. But then, something went wrong.
Due to inclement weather, the plane had to be diverted, and it, then, landed in Bethlehem, Colorado, where the passengers would have to stay until the snowstorm or blizzard passed and the plane was ready to fly again.
It was just before Christmas, so this was a very stressful turn of events, both for her young seatmate who was almost 8 months pregnant, and for the bride-to-be. A local family was kind enough to take them in, and they became roommates in one of the spare rooms.
What else could go wrong?
Well, as it turned out, Ally had boarded the plane that morning feeling like something wasn’t quite right with Tim, her fiance.
And, in fact, she hadn’t been able to get a hold of him all day, even though she knew he was never without his phone. As we read, we learn that Ally was absolutely right, and something was quite wrong.
During the time she is staying with the family, she discovers that there won’t be a wedding, after all.
She also meets Jake, who has deep roots in the little town of Bethlehem. She, of course, has a life and a yoga studio quite far away, in L.A.
Naturally, there is quite a bit more to the story than that, but you can see why she might have an internal struggle. And Jake had his own challenges to overcome. But thankfully, everything was eventually resolved.
Would I Recommend it?
Definitely. Theirs is a very sweet love story, and the town o Bethlehem, and its community, is adorable.
See you next time!
