Notting Hill in the Snow: the Story
The story is about a newly-single dad, Nate, whose meet-cute with the primary female character, Viola, is actually more painful than cute. And then, they meet again and again, as circumstances draw them together.
Viola is helping out at Nate's daughter, Grace's, school, as is he, and they begin to get to know each other.
But Nate is still married, and though his marriage is over, he is very wary of beginning another relationship. So they agree to be friends, and she, of course, will continue her new friendship with Grace.
As the story continues, things begin to change. :)
What I Loved about the Book
This book was filled with tenderness, gentleness and love almost from start to finish.
To be honest, my favorite pairing was actually the primary female character, Viola, and the male character's daughter, Grace. She stepped in as a friend to their family, offering her help, and quickly began to mother that little girl, filling in the gap left by her actual mother.
But a close second was the love that grew between Nate, the male character and Viola. I much prefer stories like this one, where there is no terrible misunderstanding that finally gets resolved in the end.
There certainly was a challenge to be overcome, but there was never any doubt that they were meant for each other (mfeo).
And the happy ending was both heartwarming and deeply satisfying. In the story's timeline, it ends on Christmas Eve, and everyone gets both what they want and what they need for Christmas.
