If I Were a Fae...

My Take on Fae

Picture

I LOVE the way this outfit looks!! Don't you?

But I am not completely sure those pants are comfy enough and I am feeling a little unsure of the shoes, too. I can feel its energy, though, and would love to have that in my own outfits.

So what do you do when you admire an archetype that isn't your own? Kati suggests adding pieces of it to the base you are working with and says you can have 10% of any look to use in that way.

And I can wear wrap tops already but if I swapped out those pants for knit ones, and found green shoes I could wear that were comfy but also carried a bit of the energy of those maryjanes, I could get fairly close to approximating this look. See what I mean?

Plus, I own a pair of maryjanes that are wedges. I don't love them but I do wear them every now and then. So that's another solution.

How would you alter this outfit to make it your own?

See you tomorrow!

Love, Jeanine

That moss green does exude a feeling of comfort - I would choose a softer fabric for the pants and go monochromatic for the top or just one shade lighter - a simple tee with a long sleeved sweater to add as the temperature drops. Add a china mug of green tea and a really good Nora Roberts novel to finish the scene.

Right? And LOL, I have a mug of tea sitting next to me right now. I think a monochromatic look would be wonderful!

I'm with you on the slacks, they don't speak "comfort" to me. For the top, I'd try something with dolman sleeves. I've never thought about "energy" in relation to my clothing choices. This is fun!

Billie, I'm glad you see it, too!! And yet, crisp is a sort of buzzword for Fae. So I couldn't talk myself out of choosing them for the outfit. Ooh, dolman sleeves are so comfy!

Love this post. I love seeing outfits put together that I can imagine myself wearing. I never really considered how I could put together something similiar from what I already have. Thanks for the idea!

Hi Jeanine! Oh, I do love that particular green (of the pants)! A top the same shade would be great. Be The Meadow! Did you know you can get any color ballet slipper from companies like Leo's (Chicago I think)? A ballet slipper would be soft and really complete the feel.

Kebba, that sounds wonderful!! Then you could have a really comfy pair of shoes for each outfit.
