Do you have experiences that anchor you to the holiday season? That become cues that ground you or steep you in all things Christmas? β For me, it has often been music and movies. The familiar Christmas carols give me moments of Christmas, even if I hear them at other times of the year. Do you have a favorite Christmas carol? βIn fact, once the holiday season is over, I miss it. And sometimes I'll sing to myself about "needing a little Christmas, right this very minute," just to give myself a holiday moment. Or, I'll watch The Holiday, and fall in love with that story all over again. Which holiday movie means Christmas to you? Watching Miracle on 34th Street used to be a Christmas tradition in my house, when I was growing up, and sometimes, we'd watch it on Christmas morning, right after we opened presents, while my mom was in the kitchen making pancakes and bacon. Did you have a Christmas morning tradition, when you were growing up? But THIS, above all else, is what instantly connects me to Christmas like nothing else does, and I love it, and the episode it represents, with all my heart... βI think it must hold the memories of all my Christmases past wrapped up into one sweet song. See you tomorrow! Love, Jeanine β

Hi Jeanine🎅🏾🎄 The experiences and memories is what makes us feel gratitude end of the day, if it wasn't for traditions and knowing the value of family..where would we be? What we did as a Christmas Tradition would be the hot chocolate with nutmeg and cinnamon in the morning to warm up our belly, playing Christmas songs early in the morning while we wait for mom to prepare breakfast❤

You are absolutely right! It's the traditions that make Christmas so meaningful. Hot chocolate sounds great for Christmas morning.

This is the first time in many years that I am not part of a choir at Christmas time. So everything is different for me. I am watching church via YouTube and am singing along with the musicians. But no four part harmony, just me with the computer. Still, I love music. Music is life and color and happiness.

I know what you mean about watching church and having to sing with the video. I love "Love Came Down at Christmas!" Especially Shawn Colvin's version of it. In school, I was a 1st soprano in chorus, and I loved it when we sang Carol of the Bells.

Jeanine, I love your memories and holiday cues! I didn't have that, but I feel the joy through your words. Since I married my husband, I've started creating our own traditions. The tiny hallway trees come on very early and greet us when we get up. I step out the door for a few minutes, no matter how cold, and pray thanks and connection with God. We watch "It's a Wonderful LIfe", to remember how precious each life is, and how God operates to bless us each and all for joy. And we have lots of brimful mugs of hot chocolate, coffee, or cider, savoring the Go(o)dness of the season.

Ooh! Mugs of goodness. Now, I want some hot apple cider, with caramel added. I like that you have started new traditions with your husband.

Peanuts most definitely! I so love that song and always reminds me of the Christmas special I watched every year as a kid, and a teen! While not on Christmas morning, I have to watch the movie White Christmas. No one else likes to watch it, so it's a little tradition, just for me, and gets me more in the spirit.

Yes, I have always watched the Charlie Brown special every year, but lately, I find and listen to the song even before it comes on, sometimes. I watch White Christmas every couple of years or so. Same for Miracle on 34th - I've seen them both so many times, that sometimes I need time off, LOL.
