Yesterday, I shared some of my favorite, traditional Christmas songs, the ones we all know and love.
But over the years, there were different songs, that weren’t the familiar, and
traditional ones, that came to be favorites of mine as well. I learned most of them as an adult, and began to look forward to hearing them almost as much as I longed to hear the familiar favorites. Here are some non-traditional, and newer favorites...

When I wrote this post, last month, I wasn't planning to include any videos. I decided to add links, but hadn't planned to single any out with a video.
But then, my blogger friend, Pamela Schmidlin, from Doggone Healthy Choices, posted this video in this blog post, and after I listened to it, I knew I wanted both to add the video and this part of the post that you are reading now.
I listened to the video, and sang along a little, twice. Both time, I burst into tears!
That song is a sort of anthem for me. It really captures the way I feel about Christmas, and I sing it sometimes during the year, when I am missing Christmas.
But this season has not quite been the Christmas season I wanted or thought I would have. And quietly, behind my own back, I had been grieving that loss.
I knew it wasn't going the way I had thought it would, and I knew I was disappointed and frustrated. But I didn't know how much I was feeling the loss.
And I think that not knowing that was wearing me out. Once I was aware of it, I could stop trying so hard. I could stop trying to make it into something as happy as I thought it should be.
And once I decided that, the holiday season was easier. Oh, it was still a disappointment.
But I had decided to enjoy the good parts, shrug my shoulders about the loss and wait for the season to give way to January. So that's what I have been doing.
How has the holiday season been for you this year?
And what are some of your non-traditional holiday favorites?
See you tomorrow!
