The Invincible Outfit
Back in the 90s, when I worked full time as a therapist, we had Casual Friday and as long as we didn't wear sweats, we were allowed to dress in relaxed styles. Well, there was one outfit I had back then that I loved more than any other and I still remember it with intense affection to this day!
When I wore it, I felt invincible!!
Let me describe it. It was a long, houndstooth double-breasted dark brown animal print jacket, with thin shoulder pads inside.
It ended just a bit above the knee and was a thick knit material, with a mostly straight fall. The lapel part was skinny, and so were the buttons. It had diagonal pockets in the design, but you couldn't actually stick your hands in.
Back then, I thought I was an winter, so I wore it with a black mock neck top and black leggings, tucked into black knee-length boots.
It was my favorite outfit - probably of all time, back then!
When I wore it, I felt so confident. You know, it would have broken all the rules, but that really should have been my interview suit.
Spring Style Trends - 2021
This year, shoulder pads have returned, and I am sure they also will be then, rather than the hunka hunka big ones most women wore in the 90s. I may actually buy a pair. Will you?
And dusters will be available this season, as well, although I don't know if we will see any that button down. Can I just say how much I would love it we did, though?
A short sleeved duster-length, slightly oversized collared top, with thin shoulder pads, that buttoned down? In my size? I would buy one in every color, print and pattern I could wear and afford.
Do let me know if you have seen anything like it!
Have you seen anything you've fallen in love with yet? What are you on the lookout for this season?
See you tomorrow!
