This blog is a heart gift for other homebodies & bookworms who love tea, hot chocolate, comfort food, Hallmark movies, the Christmas season & other delights who dread winter because it changes your life in ways you don't like. Hygge is made for people just like us because it's a way of life that uses all the things we love to help us hang on to who we are
"While there’s no one English word to describe hygge, several can be used interchangeably to describe the idea of hygge such as cosiness, charm, happiness, ‘contentness’, security, familiarity, comfort, reassurance, kinship, and simpleness." ~ HyggeHouse.com
I read an online conversation, like many others I'd been part of, where several of us were talking about wanting to be the style archetype for tea-drinking homebody bookworms because that's who we are. And I started thinking how neat it would be to create an online home for us.
What would we talk about, I wondered. We love talking about cozy, comfy style, and we will here, too. But I wanted to marry this type to the hygge lifestyle & since I am allergic to winter in all the wrong ways, I started wondering about throwing that into the mix, too.
And here we are! :)
So if winter blues are a struggle for you, stay tuned. I can help.
Love to you!
"The concept of hygge doesn’t just apply to your home. As I learned in the cute hygge reference book, The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living, by the CEO of the Happiness Research Institute, Meik Wiking, you can hygge anything. Your tea can be hygge’d. Your cocktail, hygge’d. Even your summertime activities can be hygge’d. Comfort is crucial to hygge—and what’s more comfortable than a full body of knit clothing? At the core of hygge is the idea of staying inside and hibernating through the cold winter months. And if you must go out, be sure to stay warm" ~Vogue article
