Your home is a place of refuge, renewal, and creativity, where you begin and end each day. It is also the primary root of your energy and spirituality. The house witch works to honor and strengthen that sacred space, making it as simple, peaceful, and nourishing as possible.

Virtual Spiritual Hearth

You are free to design your virtual spiritual hearth as you wish, but keep it simple. Remember that you are creating a space in which you want to feel safe, relaxed, serene, and still connected to your home. The space you visualize may not be very different from the physical representation you have created for your spiritual hearth, and that’s absolutely fine. - Hearth Witch

Cozy Hearth Witch at Home

This book has really inspired me, and has given me lots of ideas for my own spiritual practice.

She talks about the home becoming a positive spiritual influence. And that the energy of your home is malleable. You make it what it becomes.

I want to infuse mine with warmth and coziness. And Christmas magic.

IN HEARTHCRAFT, magic is a way of consciously drawing on the energy of the spiritual hearth to enhance the activity you are engaged in. As so much of hearthcraft revolves around love, nurturing, and protection of what you consider sacred, positive goals can be the only ones envisioned. Another way of looking at magic within the context of hearthcraft is as transformation of some kind, a task performed with the intent to weave together energies in order to initiate some sort of spiritual transformation, rejuvenation, or growth. - House Witch

Kitchen Hearthcraft

She mentions kitchen hearthcraft as a way to pass along love and good wishes to everyone who eats your cooking, or your baking. She mentions using your spiritual hearth as a magical ingredient, infusing whatever you make with it.

Visualize the hearth and hearthfire of your spiritual hearth. See it flowing through your arms and down to your hands.

I haven't yet done a lot of magical cooking or baking, but I intend to give it a try. I'm thinking I'll start with tea and cookies, and see how that goes.

And maybe scones. There's a recipe in the book that seems simple enough that even I could do it.
