"Hygge is a word which has no easy translation into English. It seems to hold the concept of several English words combined. Peaceful cozy comfort and pleasure. Putting your feet up while a fire blazes, and you are wrapped up in your favorite blanket or wearing your most comfortable robe. Having a great book to read and a cup of hot chocolate nearby. Being with your family or friends and being completely comfortable as yourself, knowing you are well-loved and are about to have a great time with the people who mean the most to you." - Jeanine Byers
To be honest, I began to create hygge homeschooling moments completely by accident. It happened several years ago, in the fall.
Because winter is such a challenge for me, due to winter blues, I was not looking forward to that year's homeschooling once winter hit. I knew my son would love our topics, but what could I do to make it more fun for me? I decided we would start our day with tea, and at first, that meant we started homeschooling after tea, but then I shifted us over to the couch, and we actually began the homeschooling day with books in one hand, and cups of tea in the other. We read and discussed each topic in between our sips of tea & loved it. What would change for you if you added some hygge moments to your homeschooling day? It completely transformed mine, even before I knew hygge homeschooling was a thing. Before I knew hygge was a thing, frankly. |
But now, I wouldn't have it any other way & I have become much more on purpose about creating those hygge moments in our homeschooling day.
Are you beginning to get ideas already about how you can hygge your homeschooling experience? This book will inspire more & will get you started with creating them by challenging you to do so for 30 days in a row.
It also will list a page here on this website where you can download a print-ready pdf planner page & a pdf version of the book (with pictures.) And it will list other resources I have found for you that I think will help during the challenge.
I predict that once you try the challenge, your homeschooling experience will never be the same. Wishing you wonderful homeschooling days!
